The day started off so great! Miles slept through the night for the 2nd night in a row and for the 2nd night ever since moving to NY. I got up with Miles at 5:20am, but was pleased to see that Nate was actually laying next to me. I went to bed thinking that he was staying in the city over night! See my point! Great day so far….
Nate slept in until 8:30am leaving him with a whopping 6 hours of sleep. Miles and I walked him to the train station around 9:30am and then went for a run. Miles liked the fast ride in the stroller- well, he would have liked it had he stayed awake for it! Miles slept for 90% of our little early AM outing.
Miles and I checked out the apartment’s pool (indoor) when we got back. I waned to see if the water was still really cold. It was :( There went that idea. So, Miles and I played a bit and then he napped for 2 hours. (side note:That’s a huge amount of sleep for Miles in the last few days-hmmmm another growth spurt! You have to be kidding!!)We had plans of going to the Bronx Zoo, but Nate called to say that if we were going into the city, he’d appreciate a few things brought down to him. That’s not a problem for us – besides, Miles loves showing off his “baby-ness” to all of the architecture kids who are freaked out by the idea of babies, but still love the little guy. Miles does love himself some extra attention!
On the way down to see Nate, the Zoo idea was cancelled. My car decided it felt like dying. The air conditioner stopped working on this beautiful 85 degree day in stop’n’go traffic entering Manhatten. As the air stopped working, a fine mist entered the cabin of the car via the vents. That mist quickly became a burnt rubber smelling grey smoke! Windows Down!! The car kept running ok, though the engine temp would rise pretty rapidly while idling, just to cool down again when we started moving again. (where’s my dad or BIL-Tim when you really need them?!)
The typically 30 minute trip to Columbia took 1 hour and 40 minutes today thanks to the Yankee/Red sox game(I have to drive right past the stadium to get to school). I was not thrilled, especially since the car had already demonstrated her anger while the sweaty baby in the back was voicing his anger! Ha – that makes me think of a 80’s hair band…” can you take me higher?? It’s never over…”
So, we arrived at Nate’s school all well and good (enough). We hung out for a while. Nate showed off his beautiful baby boy. We even got to see Nate’s model.
(above) Hanging out with daddy in studio!
(below) Miles trying to move the studio door jam. Ahh, College kids!
Here’s the pesky design hogging my husband’s attention. If you have questions, you’ll have to talk to him about it. It confuses me!
The ride home was alright. The car runs, but that’s about it! The windows were wide open and the wind was making Miles’ hair dance. He slept most of the way home! We had just enough time to make a quick walking, errand trip to Target and then come home to feed, bathe, and put Miles to sleep!
He went to bed super fast! Finally, the day is looking up again! Time to give it a proper ending – watch Juno, write a blog about the doosie-day, walk down to the far, far, away lobby to find internet access post blog on the internet (wish ours worked!) and then to bed for me! Hmm.. Will Nate come home tonight? I guess I will find out in the morning.
Good night!
