Bieber Fever

It's no secret that Miles loves him some Bieber tunes....
So much so that we have had friends prep private performances for him....
See here:

Smitty.... you are amazing!
You can see LOTS more of him here!

However, this little diddy (below) has been brought to my attention and I am impressed!  I may have caught the Bieber fever.  I feel like my 30-year-old self is trippin' back to my pre-teen days! Ahhh....

Christmas pageant 2011

SNB11804

Friday night was Miles’ Christmas performance at school.  Just reading the program for the event was enough to cause my eyes to well up a bit.  Miles is growing up faster than I’d like him too….. and he loves every minute of it!

 SNB11800SNB11803

Miles and his 3-4 year old class rocked out, Christmas-style! No words can describe how proud I was of Miles and his confident self!

SNB11802

Here’s Miles assembled with his class waiting for their turn to perform.  He’s right in the center wearing green.  He kept scanning the crowd until he found us. Ah, I love him!

SNB11805

Here’s his class assembling on the stage. “Hi, Mom and Dad!”

Finally – the moment you’ve been waiting for….. the VIDEO!

I apologize, in advance, as this was my first time using this camera for its video function. Apparently, when I zoomed in or out, the audio cut out.  <tear> Also, I kept giggling making it difficult to hold the camera still.

Enjoy!

3yr stats

Miles finally had his check-up! He was less than impressed with the idea of seeing the doctor. Thats why I held that information from him until he entered the office. Miles hates shots, like I'd imagine most kids do.

All he got was a flu shot.... And he did alright. He settled down soon after due to my cleverly concocted scheme! Immediately following the appointment, there was the promise of shopping at Target for a matchbox car of his choosing! Is it wrong to bribe my son? Probably. But I did it anyway. It removed the pain and angst instantly.

So, the stats.....
Miles was 40 inches tall (99%) and 34lbs (70%).

40 inches sounds huge. I've decided to say that he's 3'6" instead. That sounds more appropriate for his age.

He grew quite a bit since last year.
37 inches tall (96%)
29.0 lbs (62%)

Here's some evidence:
Last year, Miles was nearly the same height as Grandma B's Santa.  Miles was a little taller - but the difference is nothing close to this year.

And you wonder why I cannot figure out how to buy clothes on clearence.  I cannot predict Miles' size in the  same season for the following year.

Miles is currently wearing boys clothes - as opposed to toddler clothes! What were you thinking?!?!
He's wearing a boys size 4 or xs, but he's only 3 years old!

He's growing up and maturing way too fast.  I'm just doing my best to keep up and savor every minute!

Oooooh! Fancy!

We had professional pictures taken… can you believe it?!

I know, totally not something I’m usually a fan of spending lots of money on…. but with the lovely Mrs. Hannah Goering, I knew our real personalities could be captured and it would be worth it!

Hannah is an Iowa girl who has embraced the beauty and authenticity of the city

Nate wanted pictures taken with an artistic eye and immersed in Chicago. I just wanted good pictures to immortalize Miles as he is today.  Now do you see why Hannah was the perfect choice to fill our tall, picky order?!?!

We set out for Lincoln Park in Chicago at about 8:30 am on a Saturday in November.  It was about 55 degrees at the start of the shoot. It was chilly, but that didn’t hold anyone back. Just take a look at a few of these!

Thanks so much, Hannah!  We can’t wait to get our order placed!

Halloween 2011

I know, I know… I’m really late with this post too. Nate has made that perfectly clear, but seeing as I hope to print these blogs again…. here’s to printable memories!

Miles was superman!!

Here he is showing off for my camera:

And here’s au natural superman: muscle poses!

SNB11697SNB11698

But we had to cut the photo session short. Underneath this suit, in case you couldn’t tell, are a couple of layers to keep him warm. Superman was on the verge of overheating…

Chicago was in the low 50’s when we set out for the night, but the temps dropped quickly. Yes, Ma’am - we were prepared!

Birthday, part II

The weekend following Miles’ birthday, Nate had a busy weekend planning in Chicago that really didn’t involve the rest of us.  So rather than just sitting around the apartment all weekend, Miles and I traveled to Dubuque for birthday celebration, part II.

I need to apologize in advance as I was terrible about taking pictures over the weekend.

Of course, there were presents!

SNB11620

Puzzles, flashcards and Mickey Mouse PJ’s!

SNB11625

The highlights were definitely the soccer ball (below) and the balloons (not pictured)!!!

SNB11631 SNB11643

After eating some of the traditional Banwarth Birthday cookie, Miles got to head outside for some tractor time with Papa, sporting his new rainboots from Auntie Em!

SNB11669

Oh.. and swinging too!

SNB11677 SNB11687

We had a fun weekend and Miles really didn’t want his birthday to end.  Luckily, it didn’t have to. When we got home, there was another gift waiting in the mail room!

Thanks, Minnesota Banwarth’s!

Miles is one spoiled little man! Did I mention that Miles even got a card with money in it for his birthday?  Well, he did! and shopping for his own toy is fun. We’ve looked a couple times now,  but he just cant decide.  We are so thankful for all of you – Klinge’s, Banwarth’s and friends!  Thanks for showering Miles with birthday wishes, gifts, and cards!  He loved it and will likely continue to talk about this birthday until the next one arrives… Thank you, thank you, thank you!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
**Speaking of birthday’s and my super “behindedness” with blogging… let’s include this:
Since celebrating his own birthday, we actually attended the birthday party of his best friend, Kenric. Kenric’s birthday was actually Miles’ due date.  These two were meant to be friends!
Anyway, Kenrick turned 3 and celebrated it with his friends from school at Chucky Cheese!  Miles and I shopped to pick out a gift for his friend. Miles had a little trouble understanding that it was no longer HIS birthday and that the presents were for someone else.  Luckily, he figured it out and had a great time with his friends. Games, pizza, cake, friends, and creepy mouse dude!
Here are a few pics:
BRB
Good morning family and friends...
I hope to catch up on blogging very soon.  We had a wave of illness that took it's time sweeping through our household.  We are finally feeling better, playing catch up and trying scrape together a little free-time/writing time.
We miss you as much as you miss us... promise!
A day in his life – He’s 3!
Nate and I woke Miles up at 6:45am by singing “happy birthday” and the video camera. Apparently his birthday is not enough reason to make waking up any less awful.  He shooed us away and walked into the living room about 5 minutes later, on his own terms.
We sang happy birthday again and let him open a few presents!
We got him ready for a big school day, fed him his recent favorite for breakfast (toasted blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese), locked up the dog and made our way to the car.
Miles had a great day at school… Spanish lessons AND passing out his birthday cupcakes to his friends while they sang to him! He LOVES when people sing the birthday song to him!! (I wish I had pictures to share, but I wasn’t able to be there.)
Once home, we let Miles open the rest of this gifts.
He’s been begging for balloons!! (It’s since been a week and a half – Miles still carries the “party” from room to room with him.  He sleeps with them, eats near them, and plays next to them!)
Cars and guns…..
We had dinner – homemade Mac and Cheese, slightly adjusted from this recipe. I think it was a winner!
