Dinosaurs!

With the steep cost of general admission to many of the Chicago museums, we debated as to whether Miles would be too young to appreciate his first visit to the famous Chicago Field Museum

Apparently, when it comes to dinosaurs and Miles, there is NO “too young” to appreciate such sites.  Miles loved it – almost as much as his adorably enthusiastic dad.

The main dino attraction was Sue_the most complete, well-preserved T. Rex to date!

Miles knew exactly what Sue was…. “Dat’s a T. Rexth!”

SNB11272

Honestly, I’m not into dinosaurs, but Sue was super cool!

SNB11276

Hey, Miles! Look up high… what do you see?!

SNB11284

Ohh… a pterodactyl.  Yes, buddy!  It’s a flying dino!

After the main lobby, we perused the rest of the dinosaur exhibits. We saw sauropods, hadrosaurs, a stegosaurus, a triceratops, and much more.

Miles famous line from the afternoon was, “Hey dad, check this out!” As soon as Nate would get to his side, Miles would leave and find the next amusing object and repeat the process.

Pushing the little red buttons that pronounced the dinosaur names became an obsession.

I hope that you enjoyed your brief, whirlwind tour from the Field Museum. I apologize for not getting more face shots of Miles. Nate kept turning his back to the camera, therefore turning Miles’ back to the camera as well.

Hopefully this final picture will help you feel his energy and curiosity from a distance.

Great times! I recommend a visit if you’re ever in the area!

Baby Girls!!

I was hoping to wait until the girls were home, safe in their well-designed room with their adoring parents  - BUT – I just can’t wait anymore!!

sywassinks2Look at them!  They are so ready to shower their babies with love!!

Aren’t they precious?!?

I’m proud to boast that Nate and I were able to hold each of the girls last weekend during a very quick trip to Iowa, but since they were still in the NICU, the pictures you are seeing are not mine.  I’m sharing pictures previously posted on Nick and Beth’s blog.

Miles didn’t get to hold his new cousins yet, but was able to peek at them through a window.  I’m not sure he was comfortable being much closer to them anyway (remember this). He’ll warm up to them soon enough :)

It’s now been 2 weeks since the girls were born.  We hope and pray that they can go home very soon!

Dearest Paisley and Adelyn,

We love you both more than you know! Please go easy on your mom and dad. They are new at this too!! Hope to see you again very soon!

Love,

Uncle Nate, Aunt Kelly, and Miles

The 6th Annual Klinge Family Camping Trip

Over the 4th of July, the Klinge’s assembled in South Central Iowa for an adventurous set of traditions rounding out a long holiday weekend. (Yes, I am aware of how late this post is!)

Before I get started, THANKS, Grandma Kathy, for taking lots of pictures. I took very few :o(

The location: Rock Creek State Park just outside of Grinnell, Iowa.

The weather was 95+ degree hot with high humidity to start the weekend, but ended with a breezy 85 degree afternoon.

In total, we had 3 sites loaded up with 5 tents. We are a party all by ourselves.

We ate lots of tasty meals

pancakes

Drank tons of water, soda and Fancy Dunn Bros Coffee – hot and iced!!  Early into the weekend, Miles flexed his sneakiness. If he doesn’t look at us, we can’t see him or the soda he smuggled out of the cooler, right?!

We took Grandpa Paul’s canoes on the lake

The big kids played just as hard as the little kids!

To be honest, the weekend was consumed with a need to catch the best fish.

We didn’t have to try very hard to look good, or stay cool! It’s just THAT easy for a Klinge!

After missing out on this trip the past 2 years, Nate and I were so happy to be back with the family.  Introducing Miles to the tradition was icing on the weekend.

P.S.  We missed you, Uncle Titus!

I-Cubs Game

Hi. My name is Kelly.  Remember me?  I used to post family updates on this blog site.

I apologize for the lack updates lately.  We’ve been crazy busy, but I know that’s no excuse to leave you all without a window into our goings-on.  We are searching for a rental, as our lease expires at the end of August.  This will get worse before it gets better!  We’ve also had a lot of weekend travel.  Ahh…  I love the summer, but I have a hard time keeping up!

Tough as it can be, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Summer is my favorite time of the year.

So…..  A long, long time ago – We visited friends in Iowa. We had a FANTASTIC opportunity to attend an I-cubs game with some great friends.  Here’s the few pictures I took with my phone. How could I have forgotten the camera that weekend?!?!

Below - Miles and Ethan. Miles is actually 2.5 months older than Ethan – but they are still a great match!

Ethan’s mom, Heather, actually did a more timely blog of the weekend. You can check it out here.
