It’s a FEAT thing….

It’s official – I’ve registered for the Soldier Field 10 mile race on May 28th, 2011!!
I’m still a little surprised I’m going to follow through with this… I don’t really have a strong track record for  completing this sort of thing, especially given the only time during the week that I have time to train for the race is at 4:30am. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a morning person – but this is nuts!  Getting up at 4:30am is tough all by itself – getting up to run 3-4 miles is  INSANE.
The race is limited to 15,000 entrants and starts at Soldier Field. Click here to see the 2010 course.
Hands down, the BEST part of this race is that it ends on the 50 yard line of Soldier Field….  And I’ll be on the jumbo-tron!! At this point, I’ll never afford a ticket to sit in the stands of the stadium, much less step foot on the field!!  I’ve always wanted to be on TV… I think the Bears’ Jumbotron will suffice :o)
I know you’re all curious <insert sarcasm>, so here’s my training plan:

So, as you’re reading this, I’ve already logged 30+ miles…
I should also clarify aim for the race -  My goal is to finish the race within the time limit allowed for the course!  It’s a feat thing, not a speed thing :)  Slow and Steady FINISHES the race!!

Wow.. Still can’t believe this is happening….!

Finally... I’m putting together the perfect running playlist for 10 miles (about 1.5 hours or so).  My pace tends to vary with the song blaring through my earbuds…..
Any suggestions?!?!?!

not having a good "track" record? LOVE that! Was the pun intended or accidental?!?!?!

also, just discovered Francesca Bastinelli's CD "my paper heart" album is SO amazing. just love every single song. it would totaly work as running music!

I pace with my music too...I do best with loud, angry-ish music. My favs include Disturbed and Mudvayne. System of a Down tends to have a very fast tempo too. Good luck, wish I had time to join you!

Good luck, Kelly! I recommend anything by Dropkick Murphys, and either I Gotta Feeling or Boom Boom Pow by Black-Eyed Peas. :)

Now I'm usually not a big rap fan, however with working out this seems to do the trick. I have learned that the music I generally listen to is just not good working out music. (You can't really sing along anyway when you're struggling for air) Rap just seems to amp everything up! :) good luck!
