Please don’t get sick…

Take a long look……

pizza

Doesn’t that make you hungry?  MMMM… Casey’s pizza!!

My first question – do you think this pizza still tastes good if you can’t see it?  Miles didn’t seem to mind!

Driving home from Iowa this weekend, we needed quick on the road meal idea that wasn’t McDonalds… I had the “brilliant” idea to order a pizza.  I found the number and address for the Stockton, IL Casey’s general store and called in a pizza when we were still about 10 minutes away.

I thought I was thinking ahead by purchasing some silverware to cut up Miles’ pizza for him.  I had packed a bowl for him, but forgot utensils.  When we settled back into the car, I finally realized the flaws in my plan.

1 – It’s Super Dark!

2 - I didn’t have plates for Nate or myself.

3 - I didn’t have napkins.

4 - Pizza is kind of hard to eat while driving.

Well…  there went that “brilliant” idea.

Miles dug right in!  I cut up a whole slice and even gave him the crust.  Within minutes, Miles asked for more.  I was shocked!  I cut up a second piece, but gave Nate the crust.  I didn’t think he’d finish the slice.  To my surprise, only a few more minutes passed before he asked for more – Again!  I was a little hesitant, but cut up a 3rd piece.  This time I ate his crust. Nate and I has slowed a bunch by now… but not Miles.  He asked for a fourth slice. WOW!  I cut up a half a piece. I was afraid that once he filled up, the remaining pizza in his bowl would make its way to the floor and seats. AGAIN – Miles wanted more.  I gave him the remainder of the slice, including the crust while telling him he had the rest of the pizza.  If he cleaned his bowl, the pizza was all gone!  He was a little bummed about that news, but continued to inhale the last of his portion.

Can you believe my skinny little 2 year old ate 1/3 of a large pizza?!?!  I can’t either! Better yet, he didn’t even make a mess of his shirt, pants, face, or the backseat…  He’s growing up too fast – obviously!

I spent the rest of the trip hoping the food Miles ingested didn’t find its way up to splatter the backseat!

I’ll leave you with this thought…  If the above is a recent, accurate illustration of Miles’ current appetite, what can I expect from 14 year old Miles?
